About This Product
Overview
This model takes the steam locomotives of the American frontier as its theme and is a large-scale, collector-grade display piece. It works as a study centrepiece or a focal build for railway enthusiasts, and is equally suited to building together as a family.
Design
The locomotive follows the classic 4-4-0 American arrangement, with boiler, stack, sand dome and whistle set along the centreline and a pilot (cowcatcher) at the front. The stack is thick, the driving wheels are fitted with coupling rods, and a tender trails behind. A curved section of track and a small platform scene complete the set, with wooden sleepers contrasting against dark rail.
Highlights
At 3,885 pieces the detail density is very high: boiler rivets, side nameplates, cab windows and the roof vent are each reproduced. The coupling rods are linked, so the wheels turn together as the locomotive is pushed along, giving a strong mechanical feel. Transparent pieces in the headlamp and stack mouth catch the light for a lit-up effect.
Story
The building of the transcontinental railroad in the 19th century joined the east and west coasts of North America, and the steam locomotive became the symbol of the industrial age. This model recreates the classic image of that era of iron horses and open frontiers.
Details
The locomotive and tender separate, making the set easy to handle and display in sections. A display-stand interface under the chassis allows it to sit flat or be raised. The supplied track can be extended, and it combines with other scene pieces into a full platform layout. Finished size is 50 x 37 x 30 cm, making it a visual anchor in a room.
