Overview
Modelled on a V8 engine, this is an entry-level mechanical demonstration piece. Suited to those new to engine mechanics, to desktop display, and to parent-and-child STEM settings.
Design
Two banks of four cylinders form the classic 90-degree V8, topped by carburettor-style intake and a round air cleaner, with exhaust manifolds exposed on both sides and a belt pulley and fan at the front. Smoke grey and dark tones dominate, giving a compact, solid look.
Highlights
931 pieces keep the full mechanical structure within a restrained footprint: the crankshaft drives the pistons up and down and the valves open and close on the camshaft. The part count is moderate, so the build is more approachable than the larger engine models, while the linkage works just as clearly.
Story
The V8 is standard power for American muscle cars and pickups and has stood for large displacement and strong torque since the mid-20th century. Its 90-degree layout is the classic engineering answer balancing smoothness against size.
Details
A battery box and L-shaped motor are included for motorised running; the flywheel can also be turned by hand to watch the linkage. The compact structure is easy to take apart and rebuild to understand the cylinder layout. Finished size is 19.2 x 14.4 x 19.2 cm.
